In Episode 10 of season 2 of the digitally yours podcast, we were joined by our guest Mehdi Ben Youssef from Lawyers for justice in Libya, a non-governmental organization with a core mission is to achieve justice, accountability and respect for Human rights in Libya.
We started the conversation by giving an overview of the recent changes in the Libyan scene including the postponement of the elections. Mehdi also helped us understand the challenges facing Libyan civil society from security issues related to armed conflict and the presence of militias, to the inherited repressive laws that remain effective and new legislations to restrict freedoms and instore surveillance.
Our second topic of discussion was in relation to Adala academy, a digital platform launched by LFJL to train their partners in Libya on human rights and the documentation of violations.
Dans l'épisode 10 de la saison 2 du podcast digitally yours, nous avons été rejoints par notre invité Mehdi Ben Youssef, membre d'Avocats pour la justice en Libye, une organisation non gouvernementale dont la mission principale est de parvenir à instaurer la justice, la redevabilité et le respect des droits de l'homme en Libye.
Nous avons commencé la conversation en donnant un aperçu des récents changements survenus sur la scène libyenne, notamment le report des élections. Mehdi nous a également aidés à comprendre les défis auxquels la société civile libyenne est confrontée aujourd’hui, les problèmes de sécurité liés aux conflits armés et à la présence de milices, aux lois répressives et aux nouvelles législations pour restreindre les libertés et instaurer plus de surveillance.
Notre deuxième sujet de discussion concernait l'académie Adala, une plateforme numérique lancée par le LFJL pour former leurs partenaires en Libye sur les droits de l'homme et la documentation des violations.
